Dear EMWA Community,
As we move into November, we’re reflecting on the success of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness events and the positive impact they had on our community. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated, volunteered, or contributed in any way. Together, we’re creating a world where every moment after cancer treatments is filled with hope, connection, and support.
Where Your Support Goes
We’re excited to share that all the money raised from our October events will go directly towards keeping EMWA’s services free for cancer survivors. Your generosity helps us continue offering LIVE essential services such as support groups, survivorship programs, cancer navigation services, resources and much more to those navigating life after treatment, ensuring they receive the support they need.
EMWA in the News
This month, Prime Magazine reached out to EMWA for guidance on three key questions about supporting a loved one or friend facing a serious diagnosis. I brought these questions to members of our support groups, and here is what they said. The first step is to listen and offer emotional support. As needs evolve, showing compassion, respect, and a willingness to adapt is essential. Caregivers and friends should also prioritize their own self-care while offering support. The article, written by Debbie Gardner, offers valuable insights for anyone seeking to provide support during a serious illness. You can read the full feature story, "Lending Support During Serious Illness," in Prime Magazine. For any questions or feedback, feel free to reach out to Debbie directly at dgardner@thereminder.com.
Looking Ahead
As we head into the holiday season, stay tuned for more exciting updates and opportunities to get involved. We’re so grateful for your ongoing support and dedication to our mission.
With gratitude,
Cindy
