Latest Insights and Innovations by EMWA: September Synergy

Updated: Feb 4

Summer marks the transition from summer to fall, as students head back to school, eager to embark on new learning adventures. Both students and parents feel a blend of nervousness and excitement as they step into unfamiliar territory. I vividly recall those feelings of nervousness and excitement when my cancer treatments ended, especially when it came returning to work. Consider joining one of our support groups or fall survivorship program. Joining a support group offers you tools to assist you as you embark on new learning adventures. It’s so nice to be understood.

We currently welcome 15-20 survivors every week in our support group on ZOOM, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with energy, hope, and support. Our 8-week survivorship program, Living A New Day (L.A.N.D.), reaches maximum capacity each quarter. So do not hesitate to sign up. EMWA aims to broaden its services to meet the growing demand in the next calendar year, including introducing workplace support systems for cancer survivors.

Considering that 1 out of 3 people will experience cancer in their lifetime, companies are increasingly recognizing the importance of boosting employee morale, productivity, and retention. To address these needs, we are implementing a variety of initiatives, including a one-year demonstration project in collaboration with the Holyoke Health Center, focusing on the employer/employee benefits program. EMWA will focus will include including expanding our teams, conducting workshops, introducing cancer navigation services, and providing training for managers. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for EMWA, and we are enthusiastic about the positive impact it will have on our community.

As we move forward, our commitment to enhancing our knowledge and exploring successful strategies remains unwavering. We are continuously seeking creative methods to generate funds and support our programs. Your continued support and involvement are crucial to our success, and we are deeply grateful for your dedication to our mission.

Thank you for being a part of the EMWA community and for your unwavering support.

Wishing you all a wonderful and productive September!

Cindy
