Awareness saves lives. Knowledge is power.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

This month we shine a light on breast cancer, the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women and the second leading cause of cancer-related death among women. Awareness saves lives. Understanding the disease’s complexities—did you know there are 3 grades, 4 stages and 7 different types of breast cancer.

  1. Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC): The most common type, accounting for roughly 70 to 80 percent of all cases.

  2. Invasive lobular carcinoma

  3. Inflammatory breast cancer

  4. Paget’s disease of the breast

  5. Angiosarcoma of the breast

  6. Phyllodes tumors

  7. Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS):

We’re thrilled to invite you to our 3rd Annual Cornhole Tournament on Sunday, October 6, from Noon to 5 PM at 150 Whiting Farms Road in Holyoke, MA, hosted by Gary Rome Hyundai. This fun-filled event supports breast cancer awareness and our mission to help survivors. Oasis Shower Doors is back to generously sponsor our prize winners and Anthony Gragowski from SSS Cornhole is back to organize the tournament. There will be a food truck, raffles, and, of course, lots of Cornhole!

This year, we're excited to add a Social Bracket—perfect for first timers and casual players who want to enjoy the game without the pressure. And for the seasoned pros, we’ll still have our Competitive Bracket for some friendly competition.

How to Get Involved:

Join us at the Cornhole Tournament, Shortstops Donation Day, Karaoke, Celebrity Bartending, and Bingo with Molly! Plus, local businesses like Big Y, Shortstops, and The Crest are showing their support—don’t miss The Crest's signature drink created just for us

Spread the Word: Invite friends and family for a month full of fun, food, and giving back to a great cause!

Stay Grateful: Whether it’s supporting a friend, volunteering, or simply pausing to appreciate the moment, each day is a gift. Let’s embrace the beauty of this season and the strength of our community.

I remember the immense support I received during my own cancer journey, and I am grateful for the way we continue to lift each other up. Together, we make a difference, one moment at a time.

Wishing you a wonderful October full of gratitude, health, and connection!

Warmly,

Cindy
