I'm Thankful for the Scars
I am thankful for the scars because without them I wouldn't know your heart and how deep and how far your love is for me.
Cancer reminded me of what is Important. Cancer encouraged me to slow down. Cancer taught me to lean on others and trust more. Cancer asked me an important question "Was I living a life of Purpose"? It opened up the windows of my soul to God and taught me that every moment counts.
For me, cancer was a crash course in developing problem solving skills and coping strategies unlike anything before. It required charting a sometimes erratic course through treatments and specialist. During this all, I found many blessings along the way. Instead of being upset or angry with my situation, I became motivated to keep fighting, get better, appreciate every single day and help as many women along the way.
I’ve been blessed with a wonderful new community. We have laughed, cried and cursed together. Most importantly, we are each other’s biggest cheerleaders.
I'm not sure where my future is leading me but I am enjoying the journey. "I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone, but looking back, there are ways that I'm a better person than if I'd never had cancer." - Anonymous
