Season of uplift and color
The house is chilly, got the extra blankets out, and breast cancer awareness month is upon us. So much going on to mark the season, events to celebrate, honor, inspire, … a season of colorful uplifting energy …. This week the tribe begins celebrating entering the year 5775 of the Jewish calendar, and its time to wish a happy and healthy new year to us all, no matter which calendar you use… Much to be grateful for, not the least of which is that it’s going on a year of successful treatment that turned my sister’s stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis around and she is doing beautifully with no signs of cancer! There are such huge breakthroughs in cancer treatment. There is much to be proud of too. My daughter enters her senior year which many of us remember as a time to party and take it easy, but she is working inordinately hard on her senior thesis and presenting her summer clinical research and strategizing the best lab to work in that conducts research on autism. Which reminds me, my friend Lisa Saunders used my song “Voice for Sam” as a soundtrack to tell the story of her daughter that she lost at the tender age of 16, disabled by congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV), a birth defect virus. She’s exploring the fact that there is some research suggesting a possible association between CMV and autism spectrum disorder and is passionate about spreading the word of prevention and awareness. So many beautiful souls in my life finding ways to bring more light to the darker corners of humanity … You can see the events I’ll be singing at on my website, hope to see smiling faces this fall...
